"Without the BBC, the Shah's government could never have been toppled." Listen closely — that's not a small claim. In 1979 there was no Instagram, no social media, not even email. Khomeini's declarations were issued, read out on the BBC, and broadcast across Iran — including the calls to protest. Call it simplistic if you like. It isn't. Radio was the social network of its era. And then the contradiction the government spokesperson must answer for: a state whose spokeswoman has no real authority, while an Islamic Republic spokesperson reports from Lebanon in a pink outfit, no headscarf, alongside her husband. So spare us the lectures about women's headscarves. Do you agree the BBC shaped 1979? Tell us in the comments. منبع / Source: https://youtu.be/VqO4ijSVpZY?t=1685
