"Why does a cleric say Syria matters more than Khuzestan?"
The 1979 revolution was, at its core, an anti-Iranian revolution — built against Iranian nationalism and in service of pan-Islamic "ummah-ism." Iran didn't matter. Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine did.
The numbers:
▪️ Seminary students from 110 countries in Qom
▪️ Roughly 40,000 foreign seminary students
▪️ Housing, insurance and stipends — funded by Iranians
▪️ The goal: manufacturing the next Khomeini for export
Meanwhile Iranians say: we are hungry. We have a thousand problems of our own.
That is exactly why Iranian nationalism is surging back — it is a reaction to 48 years of a national budget spent abroad while Khuzestan goes thirsty.
