The Dhofar rebels were STRONGER than today's Houthis — and Iran's Imperial Army crushed them. In the 1970s, Soviet-backed communist insurgents in Oman were poised to topple the Sultanate and push the Eastern Bloc across the southern Persian Gulf. The Shah sent a modest force. One clean operation. It was over. The monarchy survived. The Gulf stayed out of Soviet hands. Now compare that to today: Saudi Arabia has spent YEARS being harassed by the Houthis — refineries hit, deterrence gone, the enemy growing stronger every year — and has effectively done nothing. Being a superpower simply doesn't suit Saudi Arabia. And here's the bitter part: even a battered Iran, hollowed out by four decades of clerical rule, is still remembered as the pillar of Gulf security. Power isn't oil money. It's will, an army, and a national government. What's your take? Tell us in the comments. منبع / Source: https://youtu.be/pHOoYlb7GvA?t=1885
