Plenty of countries sit on oil. What actually lifts a nation from poverty and insecurity to jobs, industry and high GDP is governance — not luck, not resources, and definitely not "fixing the culture first."
That idea — that a people must become culturally worthy before they can progress — is the emptiest argument there is. It can't be measured, it can't be verified, and history offers not a single example of it.
Governance builds a country or slams it into the ground. Before 1979, Iranians were watching a nation with nothing get richer sector by sector. Then came the most expensive mistake any nation has ever made.
