In 1978, Iran's GDP was twice the size of South Korea's. Today, South Korea's economy is five times larger than Iran's. Iran possessed every ingredient for success: immense natural resources, strategic geography, and a capable, educated population. It was on track to become the South Korea of the Middle East. Instead, systematic corruption, mismanagement, and isolation turned it into the region's North Korea. With severe currency devaluation and unsustainable economic pressure, the current trajectory cannot hold. Iran has the potential to reclaim its rightful place on the world stage.
