Turkey's Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek told international media: ▪️ Turkey does NOT pay the Islamic Republic directly for imported gas. ▪️ Under an understanding with Washington, the funds sit in a tightly restricted account. ▪️ Tehran may only draw on it for "permitted goods" — food and medicine. A country sitting on the world's second-largest gas reserves now needs permission to touch its own gas revenue — and only to buy bread and pills.
