Diplomatic normalization has never saved a doomed regime.
In May 2023, after 12 years of expulsion, Bashar al-Assad was welcomed back into the Arab League with open arms. Just one year later, his regime collapsed, forcing him to flee to Moscow. Saddam Hussein walked the exact same trajectory before his own downfall.
Regional acceptance reflects geopolitical vulnerabilities, not internal regime survival. The Islamic Republic is now trapped in the very same illusion: superficial diplomatic recognition masking inevitable collapse.
What do you think? Can external diplomacy ever reverse a regime's internal decay?
