Three warnings were given. The Islamic Republic ignored all three. 1️⃣ Engage your own people — instead, it answered protests with what he calls the largest street killing in Iran's history. 2️⃣ Engage the world — instead, three wars in two years, with a fourth possibly on the way. 3️⃣ Fix the structural economic imbalances — instead, every core indicator of Iran's economy is now negative and in the red. Economist Massoud Nili notes that since 2007, eighteen years, Iran's GDP has seen no real growth at all. The line that lands hardest: "Economics is a science — you can't wage war on numbers. Governance is a science — you can't run a country like a religious ceremony." You cannot kill your own citizens, fight your region, fight the world, and expect everything to be fine. It isn't fine.
