"The Islamic Republic is nothing but these people living among us — without them, it does not exist." The informant is not a stranger across a border. He is the relative, the coworker, the classmate, the neighbor. The strategy is simple: 1. Do not let informants into your circles of friendship, family or work. 2. Remove them from your networks, in person and online — this protects your own safety first. 3. Most importantly: make collaboration with repression socially unbearable. Repression does not begin with a rifle. It begins with a neighbor filing a report. Strip the machine of these people and it is an empty shell.
